Hedcor Inc. has inked a power supply deal with the Bukidnon Second Electric Cooperative Inc. (BUSECO) that will take effect upon the completion of its 68.8 megawatt (MW) Manolo Fortich hydropower facility in 2017.

Under the agreement signed on November 10, Hedcor will supply five MW annually to BUSECO’s franchise area.

The electric cooperative can achieve its goal in delivering adequate power supply to its customers through local and sustainable resources, BUSECO general manager Deiter Hoff Arellano said.

“Thanks to Hedcor for the opportunity, for giving us part of the power that will be generated from the hydropower plant. At the end of the day, the ultimate beneficiary is our member consumer-owners,” he said.

BUSECO is set to source power supply from Hedcor’s hydropower plant that is targeted for completion in the second quarter of 2017.

“Manolo Fortich Hydro will enable us to further our commitment to support the energy needs of our country, particularly Mindanao. We remain committed to provide reliable, ample and competitively priced power, generated with the least possible adverse effects on our environment and host communities,” said Rolando Pacquiao, Hedcor’s vice president for operations in Mindanao.

BUSECO provides power to Malaybalay City, Lantapan, Cabanglasan, Impasugong, Sumilao, Malitbog, Libona, Manolo Fortich, Baungon and Talakag towns, and Barangay Lilingayon in Valencia City.

The $280.4 million hydropower project is the latest addition to Aboitiz Power’s portfolio of renewable energy projects in the country under the Cleanergy brand.

Hedcor Inc. is the hydropower subsidiary of the Aboitiz Power Corp.
