Eastern Petroleum Corp. is pressing charges against Pryce Gases Inc. for illegal refilling of its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders.

In a statement, the independent oil firm said that the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Imus, Cavite has affirmed the case of filing versus Pryce Gases on the unauthorized refilling of LPG.

The office said that it found causes to accuse Pyrce Gases president and COO Efren Palma of two counts of violation of Batas Pambansa no. 33, and two counts of violation of the Republic Act 8293 of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.

The resolution was based on two test buys conducted by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) which resulted in the confirmation that the refilling plant of Pryce Gases in Maguyam in Silang, Cavite was involved in illegal LPG refilling.

It added that the result of the test buys was sufficient enough to establish illegal activities being done in Pryce’s plant.

“The Office of the Provincial Prosecutor’s resolution confirms our allegations of illegal LPG refilling and gives a legal cover to pursue our case,” Eastern Petroleum said.

It added that illegal refilling will place the lives of consumers in danger and it may cause property damage.

The Department of Energy (DOE) previously said that they are looking into measures versus illegal LPG refilling in the country.
