The Therma Mobile (TMO) High School Financial Assistance continues to recognize deserving students by awarding them scholarship certificates for their perseverance in their academic achievements.

On its second year, TMO’s educational assistance program gathered 25 beneficiaries, composed of 18 Grade 9 students and seven Grade 8 students, together with their parents and guardians, at Bagumbayan Elementary Schoo in Navotas City.

Dr. Romulo B. Rocena, Navotas Schools Division Superintendent, who was once also a scholar beneficiary in his younger days, was there to personally congratulate the students.

“Congratulations to all of you. I hope this scholarship serves as an inspiration for you to continue pursuing your dreams and creating brighter tomorrows,” Rocena said, recalling his own financial struggles just to cover his education.

He said that without scholarships, he would not have finished school and become what he is now.

The TMO High School Financial Assistance is the oil-fired power plant’s program aimed at providing educational assistance to deserving students, especially in its neighboring communities in Navotas, as part of parent group Aboitiz’s commitment to creating a better future for all across the country.

Along with Aboitiz’s business units, AboitizPower and Aboitiz Foundation, this initiative is one of the company’s many efforts towards community capacity building and inclusive growth, Danel Aboitiz, President and COO of AboitizPower Oil Business Unit, said.

“Education has always taken center stage at AboitizPower. This is our way of showing gratitude and appreciation to our host communities for their continued support for AboitizPower,” he said.

Prior to handing out scholarships, TMO has turned over two carpentry and welding laboratories, complete with tools and equipment, to San Rafael Technological School, also in Navotas last March.

It has also refurbished and extended classrooms to accommodate more worktables, as well as upgraded the audio-visual room with a projector and screen, AC units, and a sound system.

Therma Mobile, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of AboitizPower, is a 242-megawatt (MW) capacity oil-fueled power plant mounted in the Navotas Fishport Complex in Manila that serves as one of the many reliable power suppliers in the Luzon grid.
