COA, PNOC renewables complete solar rooftop installations

The Commission on Audit (COA) is showing support for renewable energy (RE) through its 200-kilowatt (kw) solar rooftop for its buildings.

COA, in partnership with the Philippine National Oil Co. – Renewables Corp. (PNOC-RC), installed the rooftop project at its dormitory and the Professional and Institutional Development Sector (PIDS) building.

The parties signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) in May last year, and construction began in September. The project was completed last month.

“We are elated that our fellow government agencies, such as COA, are engaged in the development and implementation of renewable and efficient energy programs,” PNOC-RC president and CEO John Arenas said.

“It is evident that your initiatives are aligned with the PNOC RC’s vision and the government’s thrust in promoting renewable energy. We are grateful and we are proud to be working with another government agency that shares the same values and vision and we look forward to working with you as a long-term partner,” he said.

The company recently finished installing rooftop installations in the University of the Philippines in Diliman, its first state university project.

They also installed solar projects in the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Envi-Management Bureau, the Department of Health, Department of Science and Technology, and the Philippine Heart Center-Medical Arts Building in Quezon City.

Arenas said they want to install more solar rooftop projects in the buildings of other government agencies to promote RE advocacy and development.
