DOE sees reduction in Visayas grid power demand

Alsons Power Group seeks DOE help to connect power project to grid

The Department of Energy-Visayas Field Office (DOE-VFO) has noted a decrease in power consumption due to halted or reduced operations of industrial and commercial establishments in the Visayas.

The average demand of 2,186 MW went down to 1728 MW last Friday, 28 March, according to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines’ Daily Load Profile.

The recorded average weekday demand, which was recorded at 1,772MW was also lower compared to the usual average demand at 1,870MW recorded in the same period in 2019.

The forecasted average demand for this year is at 2,015MW.

The DOE is seeing more reductions due to the continued implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

The energy department is coordinating with involved agencies and local government units to ensure the unimpeded power service, especially the movement of needed supplies throughout the localized ECQ areas.
