Renewable energy company Hedcor, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AboitizPower, has donated P1 million worth of goods and medical supplies in three provinces in Northern Luzon.

Frontliners in the provinces of Benguet, Mt. Province, and Ilocos Sur were given rice, canned goods, coffee, sugar, and disinfectants, according to a report.

The Department of Energy (DOE) has also advised local government units that the ER1-94 funds under Reforestation, Watershed Management, and Health & Environment Enhancement Fund (RWMHEEF) to help the needs of the LGUs for the procurement of medical supplies can be used to aid Covid-19 crisis.

Medical supplies such as surgical masks, nitrile gloves, alcohol, and units of infrared digital thermometers will also be provided to partnered LGUs as soon as supplies are available.

“The Aboitiz Group is one with the government and our brave medical and security frontliners who are working hard to defeat Covid-19. We are committed to supporting the Covid-19 frontliners for the long term,” said Sabin Aboitiz, Aboitiz group president and CEO.

Hedcor has weathered with its host communities various calamities such as storms, the 1990 earthquake, and the Itogon landslide.

“As we address this outbreak, Hedcor’s commitment to its host community will not waver. Covid-19 may get us limping, but time and time again, we have proven that the Filipino spirit, camaraderie and resiliency can never be broken,” Aboitiz said..

“In this trying time of uncertainty and fear, we acknowledge that we are stronger together. Together we will get through this; and when we do, we will continue to advance our communities through health and wellness programs,” Aboitiz added..
