Sungrow’s liquid-cooled ESS PowerTitan
Sungrow, the global leading inverter and energy storage solution supplier, together with the renewable energy company Super Energy has officially commissioned the largest solar-plus-storage project in Southeast Asia.
The project compromises of a 49.01 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic (PV) inverter solution and a 45 MW/136.24MWh battery energy storage system. With the addition of this project, Super Energy’s power generation capacity supplied to the commercial power system hit 359MW.
“It will enhance the stability of the power grid and accelerate Thailand’s progress towards achieving carbon neutrality,” Jormsup Lochaya, CEO of Super Energy, said.
Through its Power Development Plan 2018-2037, Thailand is looking to achieve 2,766 MW of renewable energy capacity in its power generation mix. The country is currently implementing the Thailand 4.0 national strategy, where it is developing an economic system adjusted to climate change a building a low-carbon society.
The completion of the project opens a new phase for Sungrow’s long-term strategic progress in Southeast Asia’s solar and energy storage sector.
“Sungrow is proud to supply our cutting-edge PV inverters and ESS to this project.” the company said. The company has provided its innovative liquid-cooled ESS PowerTitan for the project. The PowerTitan professionally integrates power electronics, electrochemistry, and power grid support technologies, which can provide exceptional safety and durability while reducing the expenses of delivery and installation.
The liquid-cooled ESS PowerTitan comes with liquid-cooled thermal management – providing a longer lifespan for the ESS. The product also comes with a DC-DC controller, allowing battery racks to charge and discharge individually which increases system performance in a solar project, and it can inject strong and fresh vitality into the Philippine energy transition.
Meanwhile, the battery cabinet and the PCS enclosure adopt high protection levels – allowing the energy storage system to efficiently harvest solar power without derating in the changing weather in Thailand.
Sungrow had also integrated a self-developed intelligent energy management system and monitoring system in the BESS project – greatly reducing the levelized cost of storage (LCOS) and improving plant stability and efficiency.
Super Energy and Sungrow have been partners for over seven years and have generated several renewable energy projects in Southeast Asia – including the 330 MW PV project in Vietnam.
“We are confident in our collaboration with Sungrow to become a renewable energy leader in Southeast Asia. We will create a new world with renewable energy as a stable power source for our future.” Lochaya said.
“Sungrow is looking forward to more diversified and profound cooperation with partners like Super Energy in renewable energy, to further move towards a low-carbon goal for Southeast Asia and the net-zero global initiative,” Sungrow said.
