Aboitiz Upgrade Solar Inc. (AUSI) is partnering with Republic Cement & Building Materials to integrate solar energy into the latter’s Norzagaray plant in Bulacan, a landmark project that sets a new standard for solar adoption within the industrial sector.

In a report by Inquirer, AUSI, a shared undertaking between Aboitiz Power Corporation and Upgrade Energy Philippines Inc. (UGEP), would build and operate a ground-mounted solar facility exclusively supplying electricity to Republic Cement. The project is set to be completed by the second half of 2025.

Republic Cement CEO Roman Menz stated that integrating solar energy aligns with the company’s sustainability objectives and represents a significant step toward reducing emissions.

The cost and capacity of the project were not disclosed, but AUSI will handle funding and operational management of the facility.

Additionally, AboitizPower’s first vice president and head of retail James Yu aims to create a blueprint for the Philippines’ industrial future by combining AUSI’s innovative energy solutions with Republic Cement’s sustainability goals.

The Republic Cement group, including Republic Cement Mindanao Inc., has been a leader in the Philippine cement industry for over 60 years, operating seven facilities across the country.
