Aboitiz Wins CSR Award for IP Women Sewing Project in Bukidnon

Aboitiz Renewables, Inc. and the Aboitiz Foundation have been recognized with the “Outstanding CSR Project for Arts and Culture” award at the CSR Guilds Awards 2025 for Project Tahi ‘Ta!, which is a livelihood program for Indigenous women in Impasugong, Bukidnon.

The program supports the Higaonon tribe by offering sewing training and materials to women in Barangay Guihean. This blends cultural preservation with economic empowerment. Organized by the League of Corporate Foundations, the annual CSR Guilds Awards honor programs that create meaningful impact in local communities.

“Project Tahi ‘Ta! blends cultural preservation with livelihood support,” said Noreen Vicencio, First Vice President and General Manager for Hydro Operations at Aboitiz Renewables. “When women gain confidence in their skills, they bring both income and pride to their families.”

In 2024, 19 women aged 19 to 60 completed training in sewing techniques such as machine setup, pattern drafting, and crafting both traditional and everyday garments. They now earn income from small sewing jobs and plan to expand their work through new products like tote bags and embroidered home items. The group is also forging partnerships with local schools and vendors to reach more customers.

Aboitiz Renewables, through Hedcor Bukidnon, Inc., also supports nearby communities like Sitio Mintapud. It is where they have provided materials for weaving and beadwork to help preserve Higaonon craftsmanship.

“Ang suporta sa Aboitiz Renewables ug Aboitiz Foundation nakausab sa among asosasyon,” said project beneficiary Elisa Anlicao. She credits the initiative for providing tools, knowledge, and livelihood opportunities that help strengthen their community.

Aboitiz Renewables is the renewable energy arm of Aboitiz Power Corporation. They operate the Manolo Fortich 1 and 2 hydro facilities in Bukidnon. The company continues to support sustainability and community development alongside its energy operations.
