Alsons Consolidated Resources, Inc. (ACR) showcased its commitment to sustainability and inclusive development once more. This was reported through a series of corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives highlighted in its 2024 Operational Report, presented during the company’s Annual Shareholders’ Meeting on May 29, 2025.
Antonio Miguel B. Alcantara, ACR’s Chief Investment and Strategy Officer, highlighted the company’s efforts to “create a lasting and meaningful impact” across the communities it serves, in line with its brand promise of “powering with care.”
ACR first continued its environmental advocacy through the Siguil Watershed Enhancement Program (WEP), launched in 2018. In 2024, the program saw the planting of over 60,000 trees with a 96% survival rate. The program also promoted sustainable livelihoods, training local farmers in coffee farming, which yielded more than 750 kilograms of coffee cherries last year.
In partnership with the Conrado & Ladislawa Alcantara Foundation, Inc. (CLAFI), ACR hosted the Siguil Watershed Stakeholders Forum in General Santos City, pulling in participants from various sectors to discuss environmental protection and climate resilience.
ACR is also scaling up its renewable energy investments, with the operational launch of the 14.5-MW Siguil Hydropower Plant and ongoing development of additional hydro and solar projects totaling over 72 MW. The company aims to begin construction of its first large-scale solar facility in 2025, alongside preparations for battery energy storage systems.
Education remained a foundation point of ACR’s CSR efforts. The company supported over 300 students through its scholarship programs in 2024, including 15 athletes under the Alsons Power–Hidilyn Diaz Scholarship Program. Four of the scholars represented the Philippines at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship in Qatar, securing two gold, two silver, and three bronze medals.
ACR also provided assistance to over 60 schools through subsidies and donations of digital televisions. In addition, around 1,000 early grade students received school bags and basic supplies.
Through a partnership with TESDA, the company delivered Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to 150 individuals as well in the Sarangani and Zamboanga provinces.
Lastly, ACR conducted medical missions across its service areas, offering free health check-ups and medicines to more than 2,000 residents, contributing to the overall well-being of its host communities.
“Reflecting on 2024, it has truly been a landmark year for ACR,” said Alcantara in the report. “From achieving key operational milestones and advancing our strategic projects to making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve, we’ve consistently delivered on our brand promise of ‘powering with care.’”
As the company moves forward, it plans to continue improving its energy operations while expanding social programs in education, health, and environmental stewardship across Mindanao and further beyond.
