Alsons Power builds new learning center for upland Sarangani communities

Alsons Power Group has broken ground on a new Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) center in Sitio Tahakayo, Barangay Amsipit, Maasim, Sarangani, in a move that underscores its long-standing commitment to education and inclusive community development.

Through its Maasim-based subsidiaries—Sarangani Energy Corporation (SEC) and Siguil Hydro Power Corporation (SHPC)—the company is building a 48-square-meter facility that will serve over 30 children from the upland sitios of Tahakayo and Lebe, where access to early education remains limited.

“Education is a powerful driver of inclusive progress,” said Ruben Tungpalan, Vice President for Corporate Affairs at Alsons Power. “Through this project, we reaffirm our commitment to nurturing young minds and empowering the communities we serve.”

Once completed, the ECCD center will provide a safe and child-friendly learning environment to support the holistic development of children in these geographically isolated communities.

The groundbreaking ceremony was led by land donor John Mad; Alsons Power’s Ruben Tungpalan; Amsipit Barangay Captain Hilario Kaka; Barangay Kagawad Arthur Moyak; and SEC Stakeholder Senior Manager Joel Aton.
