The energy sector of the Alcantara group, Alsons Power, has signed a retail electricity supply (RES) contract with Holcim Philippines, Inc.

“This partnership with Holcim marks a great start for our RES business. We are eager to provide a reliable and affordable power supply to other industries and businesses as we continue to grow our RES portfolio,” said Alsons Power CEO Antonio Miguel B. Alcantara.

Under the agreement, Alsons Power would provide 80% of energy for Holcim Philippines’ businesses in Davao and Lugait, Misamis Oriental.

Alsons Power, through its subsidiary Alsons Power Supply Corporation, is now actively participating in the Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) market, a move that follows the recent introduction of the program in Mindanao.

“We are confident that our partnership with Alsons Power will help us achieve our business goalsand sustainability aspirations. Partnering with Alsons Power is the right choice given its strong and trusted reputation for providing reliable and affordable electricity in its three decades in the energy industry,” said Holcim Philippines Senior Vice President and Head of Supply Chain Edwin Villas.

The Alcantara Group’s partnership with Holcim dates back to 1968. This long-standing relationship saw a significant milestone in 1998 when Alsons Power signed a power supply agreement (PSA) with Holcim’s cement plant in Vietnam. In 2013, Holcim Philippines reinforced their alliance by engaging Alsons Power to provide emergency power to their Lugait and Davao facilities.

Alsons Power’s diverse power portfolio ensures that its RES partners receive constant and stable electricity supply. Additionally, the group has been providing cost-effective power supply choices that are tailored to the unique demands of its customers and aimed to save money.

With a combined capacity of 468 megawatts (MW), Alsons Power’s four facilities provide energy to over eight million people in the Southern Philippines. The company is also set to enter the renewable energy sector with the upcoming commercial launch of its 14.5 MW Siguil Hydro Power Plant in Maasim, Sarangani.
