Alsons Power Scholars Set to Represent PH at Asian Youth Games

Alsons Power Group honored three of its weightlifting scholars who will represent the Philippines at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain this October. Jhodie A. Peralta, Princess Jay Ann Diaz, and Alexandra Ann Diaz, together with their coach Allen Diaz, were recognized during a Kamustahan session held by the company.

Alsons Power Chief Executive Officer Antonio Miguel B. Alcantara praised the young athletes for their dedication. “Our weightlifting scholars are living proof that with determination and support, Filipinos can excel on the world stage,” he said. Alcantara added that the company is confident their achievements will inspire future generations.

Coach Allen Diaz expressed gratitude for the program’s backing. “Because of this program, our athletes can focus on training, chase their dreams of becoming world champions, and bring pride to our nation,” he said.

The company launched its weightlifting scholarship program in 2017 in partnership with Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz. The initiative supports promising youth athletes from Zamboanga City, helping them pursue international competitions and academic opportunities. Since its creation, the program has produced scholars who consistently compete for the Philippines and bring home medals.

Alsons Power said the program is part of its brand promise, We Power with Care, reflecting its commitment to empower youth through education and sports alongside its core business of power generation.
