Alternergy Tanay Wind Corporation (ATWC) is awaiting the Energy Regulatory Commission’s (ERC) approval to establish transmission infrastructure that would connect its 112-megawatt (MW) Tanay Wind Power Plant to the Luzon Grid.
Manila Standard reported that the project, located in Tanay, Rizal, would include a bus-in connection to the San Jose/Balsik–Tayabas 500-kilovolt (kV) transmission line, with a dispatchable capacity of 99.2 MW across 14 wind turbine generators.
ATWC emphasized the urgency of obtaining provisional authority from the ERC to begin the construction of the Php 2.2-billion transmission infrastructure, which will be developed by Power Construction Corporation of China Ltd. or China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd.
The company is aiming to complete the project by 2025 to meet government targets for renewable energy (RE) development and avoid construction delays.
The wind project is set to enhance the nation’s clean energy goals by accelerating the transition of renewable energy projects into full operation.
ATWC has also sought NGCP’s expertise to handle the high-voltage systems at its 500 kV substation for seamless integration into the grid.
