Alternergy wind project gets grid connection approval

Southeast Asia offers first master’s degree on renewable energy

Alternergy Holdings Corporation and the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) have signed an agreement to connect Alternergy’s wind power project to the grid.

In a report by Inquirer, the interconnection between Alabat Wind Power Corporation (AWPC), an Alternergy subsidiary, and the 69 kV Hondagua transmission line would provide cleaner electricity to Lopez, Quezon.

Alternergy President Gerry Magbanua noted that the grid operator has provided the power project with an interconnection approach that is highly efficient and adaptable to ensure timely completion.

Magbanua added that this agreement was a significant milestone for the wind power project, ensuring that it would fulfill its obligation to supply energy through the Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP).

NGCP President and CEO Anthony Almeda said that as the grid operator, the goal of NGCP is to provide support to project developers in their look to put forward energy infrastructures that would yield socioeconomic gains to the country, as well as to assist the government in its goal to fast-track the energy transition of the country.
