Alternergy Holdings Corporation says that the Department of Energy (DOE) has given the green light to boost the Tanay Wind Power Project’s capacity from 112 megawatts (MW) to a targeted 128 MW.
This is Alternergy’s second wind project in the Rizal Province, following the successful operation of the 54 MW Pililla Rizal Wind Farm, which has been in service since 2015.
The construction of this new project commenced in June this year, with plans for it to begin commercial operations by the end of 2025.
“We are pleased to receive the DOE’s approval to increase the registered capacity of our Tanay Wind Power Project. We conducted a technical optimization study which showed that the potential net energy within the production area could generate as much as 128 MW of capacity,” said Alternergy Wind Holdings Corporation (AWHC) president Knud Hedeager.
The Tanay Wind Power Project, which features 16 wind turbine generators each rated at 8 MW, is set to establish the highest-capacity onshore wind towers in the Philippines following recent DOE approval.
The Tanay Wind Power Project has acquired up to Php 8 billion in project financing from the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and the Security Bank.
