President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has instructed the Department of Energy (DOE) to expedite the integration of all applications and permitting processes for energy projects within the Energy Virtual One-Stop Shop (EVOSS).

In a report by GMA News Online, Marcos emphasized the need for simultaneous processing of permits to streamline energy project applications.

While acknowledging the challenges of achieving fully synchronized processing, he encouraged the DOE to push the system toward efficiency as much as possible.

Marcos also directed the DOE to notify agencies in advance about impending endorsements, allowing them to begin permit processing ahead of official recommendations, a suggestion DOE Secretary Raphael Lotilla said the department could implement.

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) noted that the lengthy permitting process and numerous required clearances have discouraged investors from pursuing energy projects in the Philippines. The EVOSS Act was designed to address this by offering an online platform for the submission of requirements and payment of fees for energy-related projects.

The government aims to fully integrate all energy-related processes into the EVOSS system by June 2028, but the system’s full operation will depend on the readiness of various agencies and entities involved in the process.
