Eastern Petroleum, GAZ Group to sell 500 light commercial vehicles amid PUV modernization program

The Eastern Petroleum Corp is set to sell 500 units of light commercial vehicles this year.

Gazelle Motors Corp. will be in charge of selling the Russian made vehicles in line with the government’s public utility vehicle (PUV) modernization program.

“We intend to have the first year at least 500,” chairman and CEO Fernando Martinez said, adding that the sales will be focused on transport groups and operators. “We have the perfect opportunity to phase out more than15-year-old PUVs.”

Units to be sold include the GAZelle NEXT minibuses and the GAZelle NEXT Citiline framed buses which are high functional, modern and eco-friendly technical solution vehicles.

The GAZelle NEXT minibuses carries up to 17 passengers which can be used in various specialized vehicles like public utility vehicles (PUVs), transport for the disabled, school buses, airport shuttles, and executive corporative minibuses.

The NEXT Citiline frame bus can carry up to 19 passengers.

The Philippine government’s PUV modernization program looks to modernize PUVs in the country that will not just decongest the roads but will provide safer, cleaner, healthier and fuel-efficient transport system for Filipino commuters.

The said vehicles are in partnership with the Moscow-based GAZ group.
