The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) says that it has officially received an order from the Office of the Ombudsman, suspending Chairperson Monalisa Dimalanta from government service for six months without pay.
The suspension order for ERC Chairperson Monalisa Dimalanta, issued by the Office of the Ombudsman, tasks the Office of the Executive Secretary with appointing an interim leader.
Although Dimalanta is required to cease her duties immediately, the ERC will continue its operations to ensure that regulatory functions remain unaffected.
Dimalanta has not been formally provided with the complaint that led to her suspension, raising concerns about the transparency of the process. She and her legal team are actively evaluating potential legal responses to address the situation.
“Chairperson Dimalanta and her lawyers are studying the matter in order to take all available legal remedies given the circumstances,” said the ERC.
