Lucio Tan-led land developer Eton Properties recently signed with Cleanergy for a 5.2 megawatt (MW) power supply from the MakBan Geothermal Power Plant in Batangas, which is operated and managed by AboitizPower’s subsidiary AP Renewables Inc. (APRI), to provide renewable energy (RE) in the Cyberpod career hubs at Eton Centris,  Quezon City.

Cleanergy is AboitizPower’s RE arm and will be the real estate conglomerate’s power partner for its two business process outsourcing (BPO) hubs, the Centris Cyberpod, where a fifth office building is being constructed, and the Corinthian Cyberpod along Ortigas Avenue.

“BPO operations need uninterruptible, round-the-clock power supply, especially here in the Philippines where majority of BPO companies cater to international customers with different time zones,” said Eton Properties Deputy COO Josefino C. Lucas.

With AboitizPower, Eton shares that they are confident in delivering their promise of quality and efficiency in its office developments, Lucas said.

The joint venture was formally announced through a power supply contract signing and unveiling of the Cleanergy brand last May 10 at The Mini Suites Eton Tower in Makati City.

AboitizPower and its investors have a net sellable capacity of more than 1,200 MW from its RE portfolio covering geothermal, hydro and solar power plants across the country.

Currently, the power company continues to expand with the construction of the 69 MW Manolo Fortich run-of-river hydro project in Bukidnon, the 8 MW Maris Canal hydro project in Isabela and the first biomass energy plant through subsidiary Aseagas in Batangas.
