Aboitiz-led GNPD, GMEC among top importers at Limay Port

The Bureau of Customs – Port of Limay has named GNPower Dinginin Ltd. Co. (GNPD) and GNPower Mariveles Energy Center Ltd. Co. (GMEC) among its top 15 importers in 2024, recognizing the companies’ contributions to government revenue and trade efficiency.

GNPD ranked fourth, while GMEC ranked seventh, according to BOC-Limay. The recognition was awarded during the port’s 17th anniversary celebration held at the Manila Prince Hotel.

GNPD and GMEC are coal-fired power plants based in Mariveles, Bataan. AboitizPower holds a 70% effective interest in GNPD and a 78.3% effective interest in GMEC. Both facilities operate under partnerships that include AboitizPower’s Therma Power, Inc., Ayala Corporation’s AC Energy and Infrastructure Corporation, and Power Partners Ltd. Co.

“Our advocacy towards growth and economic development in the Philippines, through the delivery of safe, reliable, and cost-efficient power supply, is not without the help of our partners from the Bureau of Customs,” said Rene Katigbak, AboitizPower Transition Business Group Senior AVP for Fuel Management.

“BOC’s collaboration with our operations, particularly for the timely processing and release of our imports, makes it possible for us to protect and sustain the fuel required to keep our plants running and generate the megawatts needed by the Luzon and Visayas grids,” he added.

Katigbak also emphasized the importance of regulatory compliance: “We proudly accept this honor given to us by the esteemed Bureau and take pride in being recognized as a company that works with integrity and responsibility through compliance with its regulatory obligations by the higher governing bodies.”

Let’s discuss: How do recognitions like this impact investor confidence and regulatory collaboration in the power sector?
