MGEN Renewables signs MOA with Best Buddies Philippines for IGNITE 2026

MGEN Renewables has formally partnered with Best Buddies Philippines to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), marking a new chapter in its corporate social responsibility and employee engagement efforts.

The partnership was sealed through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signing ceremony, signaling the launch of joint initiatives that aim to promote inclusion, empathy, and community involvement within the renewable energy firm.

Under the agreement, Best Buddies Philippines will be the official beneficiary of IGNITE for 2026. IGNITE is MGEN Renewables’ fundraising and volunteerism program which stands for Inspire, Give, Nurture, and Impact Through Engagement. The program mobilizes employees to raise funds and volunteer time through various internal activities, reinforcing the company’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belongingness (DEIB) commitments.

As part of the IGNITE employee volunteerism program, the MGEN Renewables Community Relations team organized a Disability Awareness & Sensitivity Training for employee-volunteers on February 5, 2026.

The hybrid training session was facilitated by Best Buddies Philippines and focused on deepening participants’ understanding of intellectual and developmental diversities.

The session aimed to equip volunteers with the mindset, skills, and sense of purpose needed to create safe, respectful, and inclusive spaces for people with IDD — both within the workplace and in the broader community.

The initiative aligns with MGEN Renewables’ broader commitment to inclusivity and empowerment, ensuring that diversity efforts are supported by practical knowledge and meaningful engagement.

MGEN Renewables is the renewable energy arm of Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGEN). It develops and operates clean energy projects as part of the Meralco Group’s push toward expanding its renewable energy portfolio.

Best Buddies Philippines is part of a global network dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through friendship, inclusive employment, and leadership programs.

As energy companies expand their community engagement initiatives, how might partnerships like this influence the broader culture and social footprint of the Philippine power sector?
