MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) is making efforts to promote renewable energy through streamlined net-metering and distributed energy resource (DER) processes.
Manila Standard reported that on November 11, MORE Power tendered a letter to the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), appealing for net-metering and DER certificate of compliance (COC) applications to be consolidated at its customer care office located in Iloilo City.
MORE Power’s president and CEO Roel Castro said that this action would streamline the application process for consumers exploring renewable energy, benefiting not just Iloilo City but also Central Negros and Tagbilaran City.
The ERC approved the request and agreed to maintain a monthly schedule at the Iloilo office for processing applications.
Under this arrangement, ERC representatives will conduct on-site evaluations to expedite the issuance of statements of account for applications submitted by MORE Power, Negros Electric and Power Corporation (NEPC), and Bohol Light Co. Inc. (BLCI).
ERC Chairperson Monalisa Dimalanta praised MORE Power’s efforts, emphasizing their importance in promoting clean energy solutions.
MORE Power, the ERC, and the Iloilo City administration inked a tripartite agreement in August 2023 to construct a renewable energy one-stop shop, which has so far approved 33 net-metering clients.
These customers contribute a total installed capacity of 4,336 kilowatts (kW), generating 172,997 kilowatt-hours (kWh) as of October 2024.
As part of the collaboration, the ERC provides technical and regulatory support to simplify submissions, installations, payments, and permitting for net metering and DER.
