The MRC Allied Inc. is gearing up its entry into the solar rooftop industry as it will put up four-megawatt (MW) of solar installations in various Xentro Malls.
The company has signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), and operations and management contract with the UniSolar, Inc. (USI) for four-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) rooftop project with Xentro Mall Developer Inc. (XRC)
Under the deal, MRC will engage in the services of USI to provide the design, supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of a solar PV system for rooftop on various Xentro Malls nationwide.
“We are excited because this partnership with USI and Xentro Mall will solidify the entry of MRC into the solar PV rooftop industry,” MRC chairman Carlos Gatmaitan said.
“This will also expand our RE portfolio and bring us closer to our goal of contributing to the clean and renewable capacity of the country,” he said.
The project is expected to cost P200 million.
The installation is seen to be completed within six months from the issuance of Notice of Proceed by the MRC.
Meanwhile, operation and maintenance period is set at 20 years.
The project, according to MRC, will also bring the company closer to its goal of developing at least 200 MW of clean and renewable energy each year.
MRC Allied is shifting its focus to pursuing renewable energy and other clean energy investments. It has set a target capacity of 1,000 MW by 2022, which was then raised to 10,000 MW by 2027.
