MVP Group Launches Coordinated Relief Drive Across Flood-Hit Luzon

The MVP Group of Companies has launched a coordinated emergency response across Luzon as communities grapple with the effects of sustained heavy rains and flooding. The group’s companies have been mobilized to provide critical services including power restoration, clean water delivery, crisis connectivity, and road assistance.

Manuel V. Pangilinan, Chairman and CEO of the MVP Group, said the initiative reflects the group’s shared commitment to public service during times of crisis. “They all have a deep understanding of our Group’s purpose, which is to make sure that Filipinos have access to essential services, particularly communication, power, transportation, and clean water, especially during times like these,” Pangilinan said.

Meralco deployed rescue and restoration teams, including fiberglass boats and high-bed trucks, to assist with emergency operations. The company reported that power had been restored to nearly all affected customers by July 23. Relief packs have also been distributed in areas such as Marikina, Quezon City, Bulacan, and Cavite through the One Meralco Foundation.

Telecommunications providers PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications, Inc. offered one day of free calls, texts, and 250MB of data in the hardest-hit areas. They also set up crisis connectivity centers with free calling, WiFi, and charging stations. The Smart Cares Crisis Hotline (+63288457799) remains active to assist affected customers.

Water utility Maynilad delivered more than 3,500 four-liter water packs and over 2,700 bottled water packs to evacuation centers and local governments. The company remains on standby to expand aid delivery as conditions change.

Along Luzon’s tollways, Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) activated its integrated crisis response through the NLEX and other networks. Pumping stations were deployed to reduce flood levels, while patrol teams and marshals continue to operate around the clock to assist motorists. Temporary U-turn slots were opened to redirect traffic away from flooded areas, and MPTC teams also distributed water and snacks to stranded travelers.

Alagang Kapatid Foundation Inc. (AKFI), in coordination with other MVP Group foundations, is distributing thousands of hot meals and relief packs to displaced families. AKFI and Maya Philippines also launched a digital donation campaign, thus enabling the public to contribute through a QR code to help fund food, clothing, shelter, and other essentials.

The MVP Group said it will continue its relief efforts in close coordination with local government units and national agencies as the situation develops. “As the situation evolves, so will the response,” Pangilinan stated. “The MVP Group remains on the ground, focused on restoring access to vital services.”
