The National Electrification Administration (NEA) is looking to consolidate the support extended by the agency and electric cooperatives (ECs) for the rehabilitation of power lines in Marawi City.
NEA is planning to join together all means of support extended by the electrification agency and EC allied organizations to better facilitate its distribution, NEA chief Edgardo Masongsong said.
It has received support from Central Luzon ECs through a P1.3-million financial assistance to electric workers of the Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative Inc. (Lasureco) which is the main power distributor of Marawi City.
Meanwhile, 13 members of the Central Luzon Electric Cooperatives Association (CLECA), and Nueva Ecija II Electric Cooperative Inc. (NEECO II) – Area 2 committed to extending financial aid to the Lasureco workers and the Marawi Power Restoration Rapid Deployment (PRRD) Taskforce.
The Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association Inc. (Philreca) has also initiated a pooling of financial assistance for Lasureco employees, which raised almost half a million pesos in September.
Earlier this month, NEA said that they gave a P150-million loan to Lasuro to hasten the rehabilitation and restoration of power in Marawi City.
Masongsong added that the initial loan to Lasuro will be used for the procurement of the construction materials needed for the restoration of distribution lines. The said loan amount would then be converted into subsidy charge to the funds for the reconstruction of Marawi.
NEA is looking to complete power restoration and rehabilitation works within 15 to 30 days.
