Nearly 2,000 Nutritious Meals Packed for Pakil Students Through Ahunan, Prime Infra Foundation Partnership

Nearly 2,000 rice-soy meals were prepared for students of Saray Elementary School in Pakil, Laguna, through a partnership among Ahunan Power, Prime Infra Foundation, and Rise Against Hunger Philippines (RAH).

The meal-packing activity, held on August 16, 2025, brought together community volunteers who worked to support the Department of Education’s School-Based Feeding Program. The effort aimed to give Grades 1 to 6 pupils access to healthier meals to help address malnutrition in the community.

RAH Area Coordinator Marga Dayapera expressed appreciation for the collaboration. “On behalf of Rise Against Hunger, we would like to thank the Prime Infra Foundation and Ahunan Power for this project. I hope mas marami pa tayong ma-reach out na students at later on, mga community-based feeding program,” she said.

This is the second time the groups partnered for Saray Elementary School. In September 2024, they launched a similar initiative for 200 Kinder to Grade 1 pupils.

Volunteers from the community also welcomed the program. “Talagang makakatulong ito sa mga kabataan para mas maging malusog sila,” said Niño Gragas.

Tanglaw Women of Pakil member Milagros Almario added: “’Yung mga nagugutom o kulang sa nutrisyon, natutulungan natin. Maraming salamat sa Prime Infra at kayo ay maraming natutulungan dito sa mamamayan ng Pakil.”

The meals were made from fortified rice-soy blends, with added ingredients to improve nutrition and make them more appealing to children.

RAH, an international non-profit group, has been working in the Philippines with public and private partners to tackle hunger and promote sustainable nutrition.

Ahunan Power and Prime Infra Foundation included the initiative in the Tayo Na Pakil Program, which they launched in 2022 to support community development alongside the 1,400 MW Pakil Pumped Storage Hydropower Project. The program covers projects on health, education, and livelihood, with child nutrition as one of its main priorities.
