NegOcc ECs lower power rates for May

Coal excise tax on TRAIN bill may lead to higher electricity rates

Power cooperatives Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (Noceco) and the Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco) recorded a decrease in electricity rates for the month of May.

Noneco reported a decrease of P0.6240 per kilowatt hour (kWh) in its May billing.

Noneco Paulino Almedelia said the cooperative’s electricity rate declined from P10.7937 per kWh in April to P10.1698 per kWh this month, according to a report.

He added that the decrease was driven by lower Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) prices.

“There are also decreases of P0.1827 in transmission and system loss charges,” Almedelia was quoted in a report.

Meanwhile Noceco decreased their rating by  P0.5139.

The main reason behind the reduction was lower generation charge which moved from P4.5204 to P4.0551 per kWh.

Other components in the bill that decreased were system loss rate, value added tax (VAT) in generation rate of residential customers, and subsidy rates at P0.0694 per kWh, P0.0005 per kWh, and P0.0078 per kWh respectively.

The Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) has yet to announce its power rate for May.
