A tower of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) in North Cotabato was bombed by militants on Tuesday night.
This caused a six-hour outage in Central Mindanao.
Tower 106, along with Kibawe-Tacurong 138kV lines that were bombed at 11 PM on October 3, is located in Brgy. Manaparan, Carmen, in North Cotabato.
In a report cited by the Philippine Star, bombers tied improvised explosives on the columns of the steel tower.
The power supply affected by the bombing was restored six hours after the NGCP connected the affected areas to transmission facilities in the Sultan Kudarat province.
“The company stresses that the bombings only serve to increase the burden of the public, which must suffer through service interruptions when towers are bombed,” NGCP said in a statement.
The NGCP is appealing to the government to help them identify the perpetrators of the bombings.
