NKS Solar One Inc., a corporation formed between Blueleaf Energy Philippines and NKS Energy Utilities, has been granted a certificate designating its 250-megawatt peak (MWp) floating solar project in Caliraya and Lumot Lakes, Laguna, as an energy project of national significance.
In a report by Manila Standard, NKS Solar One President Andre Pablo Fausto III said that the company is delighted with the recognition, adding that the project parallels the government’s priority to manage the country’s pressing energy demands.
The certificate, issued by the Department of Energy (DOE) under Executive Order 30, aims to expedite the permitting process, streamlining clearances from various government agencies for the project.
This recognition is reserved for energy projects that significantly contribute to the country’s energy security, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.
Meanwhile, Blueleaf Energy Philippines Country Head and Investment Director Christopher Chua said this recognition underscored the project’s contribution to the country’s renewable energy future.
NKS Solar One is among the winners of the DOE’s Green Energy Auction Program 2, with construction scheduled to start in late 2024 and completion anticipated by 2026.
The project was granted green lane status by the Board of Investments in April 2023.
