OMF brings safe, legal electricity to 168 Pasig homes ahead of Christmas

One Meralco Foundation (OMF), the corporate social responsibility arm of Manila Electric Company (Meralco), has energized 168 low-income households in Pasig City, providing residents with safe and reliable electricity just in time for the holiday season.

The inauguration ceremony was led by Pasig City Mayor Ma. Regis “Vico” N. Sotto, Meralco Chief Revenue Officer and OMF Trustee Engr. Ferdinand O. Geluz, and Meralco Chief Corporate Social Responsibility Officer and OMF President Jeffrey O. Tarayao. Also in attendance were Pasig City Representative Roman T. Romulo, Vice Mayor Robert Vincent Jude “Dodot” B. Jaworski, Jr., city councilors, and key Meralco officials.

“At the heart of this initiative is promoting public safety. We all know that using jumpers or submeters is dangerous aside from the fact that submeters are also costly. In my conversations with local officials, Meralco, and One Meralco Foundation, we recognized the need to establish this project so that the electricity service here will finally be safe and legal under Meralco,” Mayor Sotto said in Tagalog.

Meralco’s Geluz emphasized the company’s commitment to communities. “We are here to work with our local government units to help improve the lives of the communities we serve. With their support and collaboration, we are confident that more Filipino communities will reap the benefits of our programs,” he said in Tagalog.

Tarayao added, “Christmas is indeed brighter in these Pasig households. The colorful lights illuminating these households are not just symbols of the season, but a testament to our shared bayanihan—a commitment to lighting up the path for one another. We are honored to extend this gift of light to our neighbors across Pasig City, empowering them to be more productive and meaningfully contribute to their communities.”

The Household Electrification Program has already reached over 80,000 households nationwide, supporting the government’s target of achieving 100% electrification by 2028. The program aims to not only provide access to electricity but also enhance productivity and improve living standards for Filipino families.
