Petron Corporation, through its Petron Foundation, continues to bridge educational gaps and create equal opportunities for students across the Philippines by expanding its Tulong Aral ng Petron (TAP) Program in Mindanao and its Engineering Scholarship Program in Bataan. By supporting students in underprivileged communities, Petron reinforces its commitment to inclusive education and workforce development, ensuring that young Filipinos—regardless of their location—have access to the resources they need to succeed.

For years, many students in Mindanao have faced limited access to higher education due to financial constraints and geographic disparities. Recognizing this challenge, Petron has intensified its support in the region by welcoming ten new college scholars under its Tulong Aral ng Petron (TAP) Program for Academic Year 2025-2026.

These students, all of whom were also TAP beneficiaries in high school, represent a continued investment in uplifting the youth in Mindanao through long-term education support. They will pursue degree programs at institutions across the region:

Mechanical Engineering – Mindanao Polytechnic College, Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology

Business Administration – University of Mindanao Bolton, Holy Cross Davao College

Accountancy – Ateneo de Davao University

Civil Engineering – University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines

Technical-Vocational Teacher Education – Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University

Currently, TAP supports 20 college scholars and over 1,900 high school students. Since 2002, the program has empowered over 18,000 scholars nationwide, with a strong emphasis on extending educational opportunities to students in underserved areas like Mindanao.

Beyond Mindanao, Petron’s Engineering Scholarship Program in Bataan continues to open doors for students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The company recently welcomed ten new scholars from Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) as part of its Petron Bataan Refinery-BPSU (PBR-BPSU) Program.

This scholarship supports third-year BS Mechanical and Electrical Engineering students who exhibit strong academic potential but face financial hardships. Since its launch in 2008, the program has helped over 300 scholars, with 209 graduates now employed at Petron’s Bataan Refinery.

Petron’s scholarship programs highlight its commitment to leveling the playing field in education, ensuring that students from all regions—especially those from Mindanao and Bataan—have the same opportunities for success as their peers in urban centers.

By expanding these initiatives, Petron is not only fostering individual growth but also strengthening the future workforce of the Philippines, empowering young minds to contribute to the country’s economic and industrial progress.
