The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) will welcome a high-level Philippine government and industry delegation to its flagship Asia-Pacific Wind Energy Summit, taking place from 16–18 September in Melbourne, Australia.
Supported by the Victorian Government, the three-day summit will gather global industry leaders, policymakers, and institutions to accelerate wind energy growth in the region. With a strong focus on supply chain development and market design, it will serve as a platform for driving innovative, collaborative solutions to APAC’s energy transition challenges.
The Philippines is at a pivotal point in its energy transition journey. With vast marine resources and ideal wind speeds along its coastline, the country is primed for offshore wind development. GWEC projects that, with strong policies, investor confidence, and favourable market conditions, the Philippines could install 6 to 8 GW of offshore wind by 2034.
To help achieve this vision, GWEC and the World Bank Group–ESMAP will host a Philippine delegation for strategic knowledge exchange with mature wind markets. The delegation includes senior officials from the Department of Energy Philippines, the Energy Regulatory Commission, the Board of Investments Philippines, ACEN Operations, and TransCo.
The delegation’s participation is critical in sharing Philippines’ progress and reinforcing leadership in the region. In last year’s edition in South Korea, the Philippines played a key role in spotlighting offshore wind ambitions and regional collaboration opportunities. Philippines will continue to deepen this engagement at the Summit this year with conversations focusing on offshore wind development.

On Day 1 of the Summit, GWEC together with Climate Smart Ventures will launch a finance paper outlining risk-sharing frameworks to unlock offshore wind investment in the Philippines. These frameworks aim to strengthen project bankability, attract local and global investors, and foster government–industry partnerships to accelerate offshore wind deployment.
Local and regional industry stakeholders across the onshore and offshore wind OEM and supply chain who are committed to advancing wind power in the Philippines are encouraged to join the APAC Wind Energy Summit in Melbourne. The event presents the perfect opportunity to connect with global energy decision-makers, investors, and policymakers in one venue.
