Prime Infra subsidiary, Prime Solar Solutions Corporation (Prime Solar), has energized its 128-megawatt photovoltaic (PV) plants situated in Tanauan, Batangas, and Maragondon, Cavite.
“Both the Tanauan and Maragondon plants recently commenced operations, advancing Prime Infra’s broader strategy of harnessing renewable energy sources to meet the growing demand for stable power supply,” said Prime Infra president and CEO Guillaume Lucci.
On October 1, the Tanauan plant was connected to the New Milagrosa 115 kV Switching Station, followed by the Maragondon plant’s connection to the 115 kV TMC-2 substation on October 10. These milestones officially linked both facilities to Manila Electric Company’s (MERALCO) power grid.
Prime Solar has a 20-year, 50-megawatt (MW) power supply agreement (PSA) with MERALCO, with additional energy output fed directly into the grid.
Combined, the Tanauan and Maragondon PV plants are expected to generate up to 128 MW of renewable energy, supplying electricity to over 84,000 households and offsetting more than 100,000 tons of coal each year.
To support the transition to commercial operations, MERALCO issued Final Certificates of Approval to Connect (FCATC) for both plants. These certificates have been submitted to the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to secure the Certificate of Compliance necessary for full operational status.
