Pending PSAs discussed in ERC-Consumer groups dialogue

24/7 power service was granted to the Cuaming Island in Bohol to spur local trade in the community.

The National Power Corp. said that they hope that the island would expand more means of livelihood apart from its main industry: fishing.

“Fishing remains to be the number one industry in the island, but then we believe that with 24/7 power, non-fishermen can engage in other means of livelihood in order to boost local trade in the island,” Napocor acting manager for Visayas operations Pete Llorente said.

Napocor provides power to 500 households in the island through is Cuaming Diesel Power Plant that has a total dependable capacity of 233 kilowatts (kw).

Cuaming Island is part of the municipality of Inabanga, Bohol.

Napocor currently has 12 mini grids in Bohol with a dependable capacity of 970 kw servicing around 2,500 households.

This year, the state-run firm looks to deploy 19 new generating sets with an aggregate capacity of 890 kw to different mini grids in Bohol as augmentation.

It will also add seven new power facilities in the provinces as Napocor is looking to energize more far flung islands in the country.
