CSEI launches 5.7 MW solar power plant in Iloilo Province

Cosmo Solar Energy Inc. (CSEI) has inaugurated its 5.7-megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Miagao, Southern Iloilo on Thursday.

The power plant is a first in the Iloilo Province and the entire Panay and Guimaras Islands, with CSEI investing P745 million on the project.

CSEI president Rodolfo Golez said that the 15-hectare plant “embodies the realization and the Filipino spirit of passion, craftsmanship.”

Golez also said that the company is looking to put up another solar plant the town of San Joaquin.

The inauguration of the CSEI power plant was attended by Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. and Mayor Macario Napulan of Miag-ao.

Defensor said that the power plant is a big help in addressing climate change.

Meanwhile, Napulan said in previous reports that the 15-hectare site is open for expansion with CSEI’s 25-year contract with the Department of Energy (DOE).

Meanwhile, a 135 MW coal-fired power plant in Concepcion town is scheduled to be inaugurated on September 30. The coal plant is a project of the Palm Concepcion Power Corp. (PCPC), a subsidiary of A Brown Company.
