NGCP restores power lines in Alabang following collapse

The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) has restored the Binan-Muntinlupa Line 1 and 2 230kV transmission line, that collapsed last week,  following a temporary relocation of its Alabang Tower.

NGCP said in a statement that they have re-energized Lines 1 and 2 of the Binan-Muntinlupa 230kV transmission line at around 10:18 AM yesterday.

“We were able to re-energize Biñan-Muntinlupa 230kV Lines 1 and 2 just a few hours after we set Tower 34 to its temporary location at the rightmost lane of the (South Luzon Expressway) Alabang exit. The energization entails full utility of the line and easing loads of the same facility’s Lines 3 and 4,” NGCP said.

Tower 24 collapsed last April 19 due to a fire caused by informal settlers living under the tower.

The fallen tower’s temporary base is now in the rightmost lane of the Alabang exit as the repairs and the construction of the permanent structure is being done.

NGCP has also reiterated its call to the local government units and the public to help protect its transmission facilities by respecting the right of way and safety clearances.

We are asking those who are living under our transmission facilities to move to a safer location, away from our lines and towers to ensure that delivery of power to communities remains stable and uninterrupted,” NGCP said.
