Unit 20 of the 1, 000-megawatt Sta. Rita combined cycle power plant of First Gen Corp. resumed its operations yesterday, the company disclosed to the Philippine Stock Exchange.

The plant restarted its operations ahead of its target date within the first week of October, having replaced its damaged transformer with a spare one in the site, First Gen said.

Its main transformer had to be replaced after an error occurred during its scheduled maintenance from July 23 to August 26.

Unit 20, with a capacity of 250 MW, was among the nine power plants that were not operational from July 25 to 29, when the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) raised yellow and red alerts in the Luzon grid.

Sta. Rita supplies power to Meralco, the country’s largest power distribution utility.
