Amidst rapidly increasing demand for clean mobility across the country, AC Motors has inked a partnership with BYD, the world’s biggest electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, for the distribution of EVs in the country.
Under the partnership, AC Motors will provide a luxury executive sedan, a spacious 7-seater family SUV, and a compact hatchback, BYD Han, BYD Tang, and BYD Dolphin respectively.
By the end of 2023, the automotive company will also launch the BYD ATTO globally-acclaimed EV model known for its outstanding design, comfort, quality, practicality, and performance.
In a report by the Manila Bulletin, the automotive arm of the Ayala Group said that it aims to become the Philippines’ leading platform for new energy vehicles, including EVs, in the long run, and this involves establishing BYD as a critical brand in the automotive market with a meaningful presence and accumulating lead shares, AC Motors President and CEO Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala stated.
The company aspires to extend 12-13 dealerships in Metro Manila by 2023 alone and establish 40 BYD outlets in the next five years.
This partnership with BYD will allow AC Motors to give a broad and compelling portfolio of customers, who are the prospect to view the new technology as a product with the best price ratio in the market at this point, Zobel added.
Zobel added that EVs are anticipated to cover 10 percent of the automotive market’s local sales in the next five to six years.
Meanwhile, BYD Philippines and Singapore Managing Director, James Ng, also expressed the company’s anticipation of working together with Ayala Corporation in the promotion of new energy vehicles in the industry, aspiring to embark on an exciting journey of cultivating a greener, more sustainable, and brighter future.
