Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower) has signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Cotabato Electric Cooperative, Inc. (COTELCO) that would aid the cooperative in its initiatives to prevent the obstruction of electrical lines within its franchise area.
Under the MOA, AboitizPower will provide chainsaws to assist COTELCO’s frontline workers in managing electrical wires that might interfere with its disaster response team during emergencies.
“This project will go a long way in making sure our team is agile enough to respond to any
potential risks and are well-equipped to clear out any obstructions that may endanger the safety of our member-consumers.” said COTELCO-Main OIC and General Manager Cresmasita Golosino.
Aboitiz Power highlighted its dedication to supporting the government’s aim of maintaining continuous electricity transmission and distribution, as outlined in Republic Act 11361, also known as the Anti-Obstruction of Power Lines Act.
“AboitizPower has always been in support of government policies that look after the welfare of electricity consumers. Obstruction to electrical wires that could potentially pose risk hazards to the community definitely needs to be addressed,” said AboitizPower Wholesale Head Angeli Parcia.
In other developments, AboitizPower, through its subsidiary Adventenergy Inc. (ADVENT) has secured a long-term retail energy supply deal with WM Shopping Center Management Inc. (WMSCMI), the developer of the WalterMart mall chain.
Under the agreement, Aboitiz Power will supply power to 26 of WalterMart’s facilities in Luzon.
The corporation’s retail electricity services aim to provide its partners and customers with cost-effective access to reliable power, tailored energy solutions, power quality and efficiency evaluations, and additional value-added services.
