Vantage Energy, an affiliate of Manila Electric Company (Meralco), has signed a retail electricity supply agreement to power 35 properties owned by the Gokongwei Group across the Philippines. The partnership aims to support the group’s shift toward more sustainable and efficient operations.
The deal covers facilities operated by key subsidiaries of the Gokongwei Group, these include: Robinsons Land Corporation, Robinsons Supermarket Corporation, and Universal Robina Corporation (URC). These companies represent a huge part of the group’s business in real estate, retail, and food manufacturing.
A portion of the electricity to be supplied by Vantage Energy will come from renewable sources. This reinforces the Gokongwei Group’s commitment to environmental sustainability. JG Summit Holdings President and CEO Lance Y. Gokongwei said the partnership plays a crucial role in advancing the group’s green energy goals.
“This commitment to renewable energy empowers the Gokongwei Group to wholeheartedly pursue our sustainability targets, knowing that we have strong, forward-thinking partners aligned with our environmental stewardship goals,” Gokongwei said during the ceremonial signing.
Vantage Energy President Ernesto M. Cabral noted that the partnership, which has now lasted over five years, continues to grow. He said more contestable properties under the Gokongwei Group are transitioning to renewable energy sources. “This expansion reflects our aligned commitment to transforming shared values into meaningful, measurable progress toward a sustainable future,” he added.
Vantage Energy is a retail electricity supplier licensed by the Energy Regulatory Commission in 2017. As Meralco’s first RES affiliate, it provides tailored power solutions to contestable customers, which are those eligible to choose their electricity provider, beyond Meralco’s traditional franchise area.
Beyond energy supply, Vantage Energy also engages in corporate social responsibility efforts to benefit Filipino communities.
