The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has mobilized relief efforts for communities affected by recent southwest monsoon (Habagat) rains, even as electricity service has returned to nearly all affected areas.
Through its social development arm, One Meralco Foundation (OMF), the company has deployed employee-volunteers to distribute relief packs to more than 2,600 families across several provinces. Beneficiaries include communities in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, and Cavite.
Meralco said its distribution facilities remain in good condition, with power restored to most areas except those still submerged in floodwaters. The company assured the public that it is ready to energize these locations as soon as it is deemed safe.
“We extend our sincere thanks to our customers for their patience and understanding, as well as to our partners including the Department of Energy and the local government units (LGUs) for the close coordination that helped us ensure that service is safely restored the soonest possible time,” said Froilan J. Savet, Meralco First Vice President and Head of Networks.
He added that Meralco continues to monitor the situation closely and is prepared to restore power in remaining flooded areas, particularly in parts of Bulacan.
With rains still affecting various regions, Meralco also reminded the public to continue observing electrical safety measures.
Customers can report outages or raise concerns through Meralco’s official social media pages or contact its hotline at 16211.
