Schneider Electric has transitioned its Cavite Smart Factory in Rosario to 100% renewable energy. This makes it the first manufacturing facility located in a government-run economic zone in Luzon to operate 100% on clean power.
The company said the transition was completed on December 26, 2025, and was formally marked in January 2026. The milestone also coincides with Schneider Electric’s 30th year of operations in the Philippines and marks its first factory in East Asia to run entirely on renewable energy.
The shift was enabled through the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), which allows eligible customers to choose their renewable power supplier. In this case, the factory’s electricity is sourced through partnerships coordinated within the Cavite Economic Zone.
Schneider Electric said the move required collaboration with several institutions. These include the Philippine Economic Zone Authority, Cavite Economic Zone, Meralco Ecozone Power, the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines, and ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions.
The Cavite Smart Factory plays a key role in Schneider Electric’s East Asia supply chain. The building has more than 1,300 workers that produce power distribution and industrial automation solutions for domestic and export markets. Company executives said the site demonstrates how smart manufacturing and sustainability goals can be integrated together in large-scale operations.
Schneider Electric also positioned the development as a model for industrial decarbonization in the Philippines, particularly within government-run ecozones that traditionally face more regulatory and operational constraints compared to private industrial estates.
The company linked the milestone to its broader decarbonization strategy, which targets emissions reductions across its own operations and as part of its global net-zero commitments.
As more factories seek to reduce emissions while maintaining competitiveness, will other ecozone-based manufacturers follow Schneider Electric’s move to fully renewable power?
