The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) is discussing a proposed establishment of a 40-hectare solar renewable industrial park within the Clark Civil Aviation Complex, according to a Facebook post published by the agency on Tuesday.
BCDA President and Chief Executive Officer Joshua Bingcang met with Wyman Xu, chief executive officer of MaxFusion Group Inc., a global renewable energy group, to discuss the proposed development in Clark.
The proposed project is set to be a regional manufacturing hub for next-generation solar cells, solar modules, and building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), with even the potential to attract complementary investments down the solar supply chain.
BCDA said plans under discussion also include the deployment of on-site and nearby solar power generation facilities to support the industrial park’s energy requirements, reinforcing a low-carbon and self-sustaining design for the proposed development.
According to the agency, the proposed solar renewable industrial park aligns with national priorities to accelerate the renewable energy transition, promote sustainable industrial growth, and increase foreign direct investment, in support of the renewable energy and economic development agenda of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr..
Following the meeting, BCDA said officials from the agency, the Clark International Airport Corporation, and MaxFusion Group conducted a site inspection in Clark, showcasing continued investor interest in BCDA-managed areas as potential locations for renewable energy and advanced manufacturing projects.
