Aboitiz Power Corporation expects to complete the 1,336-megawatt GNPower Dinginin coal-fired power plant in Mariveles, Bataan by the second quarter of this year.
AboitizPower President and CEO Emmanuel Rubio said that one of the company’s key goals in 2021 is to have the plant generate power by then.
Based on the company’s nine-month report, the GNPower Dinginin project was in the final stages of construction, but still was facing challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the imposition of the travel ban from China.
Project timelines were particularly impacted by the imposition of travel restrictions, which also caused delays in the delivery of materials.
Nonetheless, AboitizPower said that despite the strict COVID-19 measures implemented in the construction site, the movements of key technical personnel and materials were largely achieved.
