Two subsidiaries of the Aboitiz Power Corp. were awarded by the Davao City government as a few of the biggest taxpayers for 2016 in the business and real property tax payments sector.
Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) and Therma South Inc. were named as the biggest business taxpayers and biggest real property taxpayer, respectively at the Araw ng Dabaw festivities last week.
“The City Government of Davao is grateful to those in the private sector who religiously pay their taxes, allowing for more projects for the city. Thank you for helping us make Davao City a stronger, safer, cleaner and a more liveable city for all,” City administrator Zuleika Lopez said.
DavaoLight executive vice president and COO Rodger Velasco said that they are committed to pay the right taxes on time.
“This is also a way to give back to the host city and communities where we operate. We are honored and privileged to serve the city of Davao,” he said.
“We are thankful and humbled by the City Government’s recognition of our contribution to its local revenue. This is a realization of our earlier commitment to significantly contribute to the continued growth of the city under Mayor Sara Duterte’s leadership,” TSI Vice president and plant manager Valentin S. Saludes III said.
DavaoLight has been providing power to Davao since the 1940s and has been serving Davao and Panabo city, as well as the towns of Sto. Tomas, Carmen and Dujali.
Meanwhile, Therma South operates the 300 MW baseload power plant that delivers power to over 20 electric cooperatives and distribution utilities in Mindanao.
