Aboitiz Upgrade Solar Inc. (AUSI), a joint venture between AboitizPower’s distributed renewables arm and Upgrade Energy Philippines, has signed an agreement with TDK Philippines Corp. (TPC) to install a 5.65-megawatt-peak (MWp) rooftop solar system across two of TDK’s manufacturing facilities in Biñan, Laguna.
The installation will comprise more than 9,000 solar panels and is projected to generate nearly 8 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy annually, supporting TDK’s goal to integrate sustainability into its manufacturing operations.
“Through this collaboration with TPC, we are proving that rooftop solar solutions can deliver both environmental responsibility and business performance to critical industries at scale,” said UGEP Chief Operating Officer Pieterjan Vanbuggenhout.
AboitizPower Vice President for Retail Energy Sales, Solutions, and Services Gina Camacho-David described the partnership as a convergence of shared values in innovation and sustainability. “Our philosophy of ‘Always-on Innovation’ is aligned with TDK’s values of strategic vision, courage, and trust,” she said. “We are proud to help contribute to the ‘TDK Transformation’ and accelerate progress for a sustainable future.”
TDK Philippines, a subsidiary of Tokyo-based TDK Corp., supplies critical electronic components for global industries. Its president and CEO, Masatoshi Shindoh, said the company’s investment in solar power reflects its long-term environmental commitment.
“By integrating renewable energy into our operations, we are taking concrete steps to reduce our carbon footprint, enhance energy efficiency, and contribute to a cleaner energy future for the Philippines,” Shindoh said.
The project strengthens AboitizPower’s growing presence in the commercial and industrial solar segment, as more manufacturers turn to distributed energy to hedge against volatile power costs and achieve sustainability targets.
