For the fifth straight year, Aboitiz Power Corporation has maintained its spot in the FTSEGood Index Series amid its performance in corporate sustainability practices.
FTSEGood Index Series, created by global index provider FTSE Russel, measures a company’s performance in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices.
AboitizPower received an overall rating of 3.1 due to its “performance in the social and governance themes, highlighting its dedication to people and integrity as a partner in good governance.”
“We are honored to be recognized again in this index. This external recognition affirms progress in our continuing sustainability journey. Our inclusion in the index over the past five years provides us insights on how we as a company can do better and deliver more value to society and the planet,” AboitizPower president and CEO Emmanuel Rubio said in a statement.
The power-generating firm also received a 4.7 rating in aggregate governance after gathering a maximum rating of five in anti-corruption and risk management.
AboitizPower said that its environmental conservation is in parallel with the country’s mission of providing reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy through a balanced portfolio mix of renewable and thermal power facilities.
AboitizPower is spending around Php190 billion in the next decade to add 3.700 MW of renewable energy to its portfolio, as it aims for a 50:50 balance between RE and thermal capacities by 2030.
