AboitizPower, Mapua launch technical energy modules for LGUs, regulators

Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower) and Mapua University are teaming up to develop Power Systems 101, a new series of learning modules focusing on the technical, operational, and engineering components of the Philippine power system.

The initiative targets local government officials, regulators, community leaders, business partners, and educators. It will be used in onsite learning sessions to improve energy literacy and encourage informed dialogue on power generation, transmission, and distribution.

“This initiative is a strategic step to reach out to our stakeholders by creating a platform for sharing knowledge and information,” said AboitizPower First Vice President for External Relations Jason Magnaye.

Mapua President and CEO Dr. Dodjie Maestrecampo added, “AboitizPower will bring industry expertise in this partnership, while Mapua will be in charge of making sure the academic framework is there in upskilling and capacitating our [stakeholders].”

The partnership builds on AboitizPower’s earlier Power 101 collaboration with the University of the Philippines Los Baños, which covered economic and financial aspects of the energy system.

The new rollout aligns with National Disaster Resilience Month, underscoring the role of energy literacy in building stronger and more responsive communities.

What do you think of this move to boost energy literacy among local leaders and regulators? Let’s talk.
