Guilvin Medina (4th from left), together with other executives from their respective organizations.
AboitizPower subsidiary Therma South, Inc. (TSI) has signed a two-megawatt Emergency Power Supply Agreement (EPSA) with Misamis Occidental I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MOELCI-I) to help maintain stable electricity supply across Oroquieta City and seven municipalities in Misamis Occidental.
The agreement aims to ensure continued power service for customers in Oroquieta City and the municipalities of Aloran, Lopez Jaena, Plaridel, Calamba, Baliangao, Sapang Dalaga, and Concepcion.
According to AboitizPower, the EPSA is the first emergency power supply agreement of its kind for TSI and is intended to help address the region’s growing energy challenges.
“Our partnership with AboitizPower has always been rooted in reliability and mutual trust, and this EPSA is a reflection of that,” said MOELCI-I General Manager Engr. Guilvin Medina.
“For over ten years, TSI has been a steadfast partner in keeping the lights on for our customers, and we are proud that this agreement makes history as the first of its kind,” he added.
AboitizPower Head of Revenue Operations James Yu also emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting electric cooperatives during critical situations.
“At TSI and AboitizPower, we don’t just provide power – we stand by our partners in every situation, including the critical moments when they need us most,” Yu said.
“Being part of TSI’s first-ever emergency power supply agreement is something that we are truly proud of,” he added.
The company said the agreement comes as Mindanao’s energy landscape continues to evolve amidst a more complex market environment.
Emergency power supply agreements are typically used to help electric cooperatives secure additional electricity during supply shortages, unexpected outages, or periods of high demand.
As power demand continues to grow in different parts of Mindanao, what other measures do you think can help strengthen energy reliability in local communities?
